Before their grand celebration at Tehama Golf Club, Sam and Didier shared an intimate wedding at the stunning Carmel Mission Basilica. Surrounded by close friends and family who traveled from across the country, their day was filled with warmth, love, and joy. One of my favorite moments was right after the ceremony, as Sam and Didier walked out of the Basilica with the biggest smiles, truly glowing with happiness.
The Carmel Mission Basilica offers a picture-perfect setting for intimate weddings. With its peachy-pink adobe walls, classic Spanish architecture, and beautifully manicured gardens, the property provided endless opportunities for portraits. Every corner of the grounds tells a story, from the serene courtyards to the lush greenery that frames the historic church. Sam and Didier’s portraits felt timeless, blending effortlessly with the Mission’s romantic charm.
This iconic location is steeped in history. Founded by Father Junipero Serra in 1770, the Carmel Mission was the second mission built by Franciscan missionaries in Upper California. Constructed of sandstone and stucco, the Basilica still stands today as a quintessential Monterey Bay and Carmel historical site. Whether your wedding is grand or intimate, exchanging vows here is a special experience that connects couples to California’s rich heritage.
For Sam and Didier, this intimate celebration was a beautiful start to their wedding journey—a quiet, heartfelt moment before the excitement of their larger wedding at Tehama Golf Club. Their day at the Carmel Mission Basilica captured both the love they share and the significance of choosing a location with deep historical and architectural beauty.
As a Carmel wedding photographer, it’s always a joy to photograph couples at this iconic venue. The combination of history, architecture, and natural beauty makes every wedding here feel timeless and personal, just like Sam and Didier’s intimate day.
